Returning dealer Mia Weiner of Old Master Drawings in Connecticut has a particular passion for Italian drawings and watercolours and will be featuring important examples including late 19th century works by one of the greatest proponents, Giacinto Gigante, as well as stunningly exacting watercolours of Pompeii by Luigi Bazzani, and an evocative street scene of Naples by Dante Ricci, which is also a watercolor. From the Baroque period Weiner has a very important large drawing by Alessandro Algardi which is both figurative and a design for an object, commissioned by the Pamphili family and representative of his best period, and an unusually finished colored chalk head study of a boy which is preparatory for a painting.

She says, “The tenth anniversary of MASTER DRAWINGS NEW YORK is a tremendous achievement. Dealers work hard to bring the best drawings they can muster and present them in an atmosphere conducive to their particular exhibition styles. That each show is unique in material as well as gallery design has been a delight for countless collectors and museum curators/directors.”
