Monroe Warshaw is a long time New York dealer in master drawings with a particular interest in Netherlandish and German art. His MASTER DRAWINGS week exhibition will focus on mythological drawings from the 16th to early 20th century. He says that while we tend to think of mythology predominantly as Greek and Roman, he has acquired a number of drawings based on a story from the Italian poet Boccaccio and an interesting Lorenz Frohlich drawing for a “sort of Fairy Tale from the Nordic culture.” Warshaw is well known for his photography and world travels, accompanied by his esteemed canine companion, Pastrami, whose images at major world sites have been seen by many fans. At the Tenth Anniversary MASTER DRAWINGS week event, Monroe Warshaw is staging a show titled “Drawn to Mythology” with a collection that goes beyond the best known Greek and Roman examples, and dates from the 16th to 20th centuries. Pastrami is already dressed for the occasion.
